Summer Training Program...

During the month of July we will be running our popular sumer swim sessions. These flexible one week sessions will help keep your swimmer active during the summer and help recap the skills they have learned and teach them new skills to apply.

Swim-A-Thon 2008...

Our swim-a-thon is fast approaching on May 2nd and 3rd. This is the clubs only fundraising activity of the year so we encourage all families to take part. Please make sure you have received the following handouts:

Six VPSC athletes selected to BC All-Star team...

Congratulations to Keith Eriks, Nicolas Kasting, Caitlin Quon, Laura Sze, Edison Jyang and Liam Todd for being slected to represent BC in an allstar meet against the best swimmers in California, Oregon and Wshaington. They along with selected team coach Tyler Lewall will be traveling to Carson City, Nevada in January to take part in the Pac Coast Allstar Meet.

Treatment and Prevention of the Common Cold...

Added to our parent info section is a handout on tips and ideas to help prevent and treat the common cold from VPSC mom and Doctor Janet McKeown. Keeping your sick days to a minimum in the winter months is always key to staying on top of both your school and your swimming.


Core Strength and Shoulder Stability Exercises...

last spring we had physiotherapist Nadine Plotnikoff come in with our older swimmers to go over some exercises to help strengthen key areas of concern for swimmers. Nadine has worked with VPSC for a number of years as well as otehr national level swimmers and National teams in other sports. Added to our parent info section is a powerpoint display of some of the execrices she went over with the swimmers as well as contact information for some sport science support staff that has worked with the club.

2007/08 New Swimmer Registration...

We have some limited spots left in some of our groups. For new swimmer information please contact the office by phone or email.
Approximate levels for new swimmers are:
8 & Unders completed Swim Kids 5
9/10 year olds completed Swim Kids 8
11/12 year olds completed Swim Kids 11
13 & Over swimmers must have had some sort of competitive swim training
These levels are strictly guidlines actual acceptance will depend on the assessment


2007/08 Returning Swimmer Registration...

Current members should receive their 2007/08 registration package by the end of the first week of August. Please go over the package and return the relevent forms along with payment.
Packages should be returned by September 3rd to guarantee a spot in your group

Mies Schootman Invitational Summary ...

VPSC continued our streak of fantastic meets last weekend with a dominating performance at the Mies Schootman Invitational at UBC. VPSC easily won the meet scoring over 1200 points more than the second place team. This was the first time we have even finished in the top 3 at this large meet and it was great to see swimmers from all age groups swimming well. In total we had a whopping 103 individual medals and over 220 final swims over the three days of competition.

Six VPSC swimmers to represent BC ...

VPSC had six swimmers selected to the BC Allstar Team to compete against the Alberta allstars during Easter weekend. Congratulations to Caitlin Quon, Edward Zhao, Edison Jyang, Laura Sze, Monica McKeown and Liam Todd.


BC Provincial Championships Summary ...

It was a fantastic week for VPSC at the BC Provincial Championships. We led the UBC Dolphin assault as we regained the title as top team in the province. VPSC accounted for all 19 individual Gold and Silver medals that UBCD won on the weekend with 12 & Under swimmers Edwards Zhao and Caitlin Quon leading the charge with 6 Gold, 8 Silver and 2 Bronze individual medals between them. A total of seventeen VPSC swimmers came home with a total of 55 medals. Congratulations to everyone who participated in VPSC’s most successful meet ever.

LMR Championships Summary ...

What a weekend for VPSC at LMR Championships in Chilliwack last weekend! We had six new AAA qualifiers! Congratulations to Michelle, Rachel, Duncan, Daniel G, Katie and Amy R for moving up to the next level. We also had an incredible 21 swimmers make finals on the weekend, 12 swimmers win individual medals and 8 swimmers getting additional AA times. Way to go everyone on helping VPSC start the new year on a fantastic note.

VPSC Swimmers represent BC at Pacific Coast All Star Meet ...

Four VPSC swimmers represented BC in an allstar meet against four other allstar teams from Washington, Oregan, Northern Calfornia and Southern California. The meet was held in Richmond from January 19-21. Brian Lo, Josh Martin, Caitlin Quon and Edward Zhao competed for Team BC and each represented the province well.
Caitlin was one of BC's top performers racing in the 11/12 category. Caitlin finished 1st in the 200 and 400 Free, 2nd in the 200 IM, 4th in the 100 Free and 100 IM and 8th in the 50 Back. She also set VPSC club records in the 100, 200 and 400 Free and 200 IM as well as led BC relay teams to two 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd place finish.
Brian finished with an 11th place finish in the 50 Breast, 13th in the 100 Breast and 18th in the 50 and 100 Back. Brian also swam on one "A" relay team helping them to a 5th place finish.
Josh finished with a 12th place finish in the 100 Free and 100 Fly, a 16th in the 50 Free and 19th in the 200 Free.
Edward raced six events finishing with an 11th in the 50 Free, 13th in the 100 Free and 200 IM, 14th in the 200 Free, 15th in the 400 Free and 16th in the 50 Fly. Edward also led four relays to one 4th and three 5th place finishes.
